Hyderabad, India – May 15, 2025
The city of Hyderabad is set to make history once again as it proudly prepares to host the Miss World 2025 Grand Finale on May 31 at the prestigious HITEX Exhibition Centre. As excitement builds across India and around the world, over 115 beauty queens from different countries have already arrived in the city for weeks of events, culminating in what is expected to be a dazzling coronation night.
India Hosts Miss World for the Third Time
This year marks the third time India has hosted the Miss World pageant, following New Delhi in 1996 and Mumbai in 2023. The decision to bring the finale to Hyderabad underlines the city's growing international profile and its reputation for seamlessly blending heritage with modernity.
The announcement was made earlier this year by the Miss World Organization in collaboration with the Government of Telangana. The event is expected to draw global media coverage and significant tourism revenue, as international fans and dignitaries descend upon the historic city.
Grand Opening in Gachibowli
The Miss World 2025 festivities officially began on May 10 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium with a spectacular opening ceremony that showcased India's cultural vibrancy. Delegates from around the globe were welcomed with traditional dances, musical performances, and a vibrant showcase of Indian textiles and crafts.
Speaking at the launch event, Miss World Chairperson Julia Morley stated,
"India's warmth and hospitality make it a perfect venue for a pageant that celebrates not only beauty, but purpose and compassion. Hyderabad offers a stunning backdrop for such a global celebration."
Cultural Immersion & 'Beauty With a Purpose' Projects
Leading up to the finale, the contestants have been immersed in cultural and humanitarian activities across Hyderabad and Telangana. The delegates visited heritage sites such as Charminar, Mecca Masjid, Golconda Fort, and Laad Bazaar, experiencing local crafts and cuisine.
They also attended a royal banquet hosted at Chowmahalla Palace, which showcased Hyderabadi nawabi culture and royal hospitality. The event was attended by celebrities, local officials, and foreign dignitaries.
One of the pageant’s core components, the “Beauty With a Purpose” presentation, will take place on May 26 at HITEX. Each contestant will present their charitable project, addressing global issues like education, women’s rights, healthcare, and environmental conservation. The segment is not only crucial in scoring but also instrumental in defining the spirit of Miss World.
Hyderabad Prepares for the Grand Night
On May 31, the red carpet will roll out at 5:30 PM, followed by the main event, which will be broadcast live in over 140 countries. The reigning Miss World, Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic, will crown her successor in a ceremony expected to feature performances by global music artists and a lineup of international and Bollywood celebrities.
The finale will include various competitive segments:
-
Top Model Round
-
Talent Round
-
Sports Challenge
-
Head-to-Head Debate
-
Question & Answer – the most anticipated round determining the winner.
Political Concerns Amid Celebration
Despite the grandeur, the event has not been free of criticism. MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, a senior leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), recently issued a public statement requesting a postponement of the pageant amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
In a letter to the Telangana Chief Minister, Kavitha wrote:
“While we are proud of hosting such a globally esteemed event, we must remain sensitive to the regional security concerns and sentiments of the public. The current geopolitical atmosphere requires measured decisions.”
However, government sources confirmed that security has been heightened, and the event will proceed with all safety protocols in place. Hyderabad Police and state agencies are working in coordination with national intelligence to ensure a safe experience for participants and attendees.
Global Spotlight on Hyderabad
The Miss World 2025 pageant is not just a celebration of beauty but an economic and cultural opportunity for the host city. With thousands of international visitors, influencers, and journalists arriving in Hyderabad, local businesses, hotels, and tourism services are witnessing a surge in demand.
Telangana Tourism Minister, Srinivas Goud, remarked:
“This is an opportunity to showcase Hyderabad's global appeal — our food, our heritage, our innovation. We’re honored to host Miss World and ready to give the world a show to remember.”
